Associate Mental Skills Consultant, Intake Specialist

Esme Reinders (she/her), born and raised in Eau Claire, WI, serves as an Associate Mental Skills Consultant and Intake Specialist at Premier Sport Psychology. In her role, Esme contributes to mental performance research and supports clinical and sport psychology services across a variety of settings. She is especially passionate about helping student-athletes navigate performance anxiety and identity development.

Esme earned her bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Health Promotion & Wellness from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, graduating cum laude in 2022. While at UWSP, she held practicum positions in worksite wellness and motivational interviewing. A two-sport collegiate athlete, Esme competed as a forward on the women’s soccer team and as a sprinter on the track and field team, earning Academic All-American honors in both 2021 and 2022.

In 2025, Esme completed her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas, where she provided mental health counseling to college students through her advanced doctoral practicum at the Center for Well-Being. She also facilitated anxiety-focused workshops for high-achieving undergraduates, supporting their transition into college.

Before joining Premier full-time, Esme served as a volunteer Project Support Intern from 2022 to 2024. During her internship, she developed educational resources known as “Performance Packs” on topics such as motivation, focus, confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience. She also supported providers during conference presentations related to performance psychology.

Esme’s work is grounded in her belief that mental performance and well-being are inseparable—and that every athlete deserves access to tools that support both. She is currently pursuing her Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification and working toward acceptance into a doctoral program in counseling psychology.

Outside of work, Esme enjoys weight training, camping across the country, exploring new books and sports, and discovering coffee shops around the Twin Cities.
