Carlos Coto (“Coto”) is a bilingual Mental Performance Consultant specializing in mental skills training, performance leadership, and personal wellness. Coto’s focus is to bring tabula rasa to his sessions with every athlete, a clean slate, and to understand their unique experiences as human beings first. Through these understandings, he aims to help them achieve excellence across all performance domains, within and beyond sport.
Coto was born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica, and came to the United States in 2014 to pursue his education. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The New York Institute of Technology, where he was a four-year captain of the men’s soccer team, and earned the Ryan T. Caulfield Athlete of the Year Award as the top male student-athlete in his graduating class. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Sport & Performance Psychology from the University of Denver, where in addition to his studies he worked as a mental performance consultant and a member of the executive board for the Center for Performance Excellence, providing mental training and consulting services for NCAA Division III and regional athletic programs.
Coto’s passion is performance, and outside of his time at Premier, he is an accomplished musician (violin), still enjoys playing soccer, and is an avid distance runner.
