SPORT PSYCHOLOGY?

Sport psychology sessions approach each athlete holistically, and target any conditions that may be impacting performance, livelihood, or mental health.

Optimize Performance

Athletes and programs have mastered the nutritional, the physical, and the tactical modes of athletic training. The final frontier of performance enhancement is mental skills training and mindset optimization, a dimension scientifically-proven to increase sport and life performance.

Mental health support

Athletes are no less prone to depression, anxiety, learning disabilities, relationship problems, or any of the conflicts and tensions of everyday life. Our sport psychologists are trained in both performance coaching and mental health counseling, giving athletes access to these services from individuals who understand the language of athletics, even when an athlete’s struggles lay beyond it.

Sport psychology and mental performance consulting help athletes find their “why” and create values-driven athletic routines that tap into internal motivators, increase feelings of purpose and sport enjoyment, and create sport/life balances that reduce stress and the likelihood of emotional fatigue and burnout.

expect

For those receiving mental health or performance coaching services for the first time, the first session will consist largely of information gathering, to acquaint your provider with the specific goals you want to achieve through counseling, and to identify the obstacles you have faced in pursuit of those goals in the past. You and your provider will then collaborate to create an action plan to address these obstacles and achieve your goals. Diagnostic tools and assessments may also be used to better understand your circumstances and to provide effective and responsive care.  The information shared with your provider is confidential and protected by strict standards of counselor/client care.

The precise pathway through these sessions will vary from client to client and from provider to provider, but whether your individual path, goals, or obstacles, we are here to help you think, perform, and feel better in all venues of daily life.

You should feel encouraged to share any questions or concerns you may have about this process with your provider, and to discuss counseling alternatives, including virtual sessions and sessions with parents and mentors, in the event that you ever feel uncomfortable.
